Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 20, 2026

TrueCompass ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in the TrueCompass mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data: To provide accurate heading (True North) and waypoint tracking, the app requests access to your device's precise (GPS) and approximate location. This data is processed locally on your device to calculate magnetic declination and distances. We do not store or share your live location on our servers.

Camera Access: The optional "Sight Mode" feature requires access to your camera to display a live feed behind the compass dial. Video data from the camera is processed in real-time on your device for display purposes only. We do not record, save, or transmit any images or video from your camera.

Crash Data (Firebase Crashlytics): We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app stability and fix bugs. If the app crashes, it may send anonymized technical information to Firebase (a Google service), such as device model, OS version, and the stack trace of the error. This data does not personally identify you.

2. Data Usage

All sensor and location data are used exclusively to provide the app's core functionality. Your saved waypoints are stored locally in the app's private database and are not uploaded to any external servers.

3. Third-Party Services

TrueCompass uses the following third-party services:

4. Children's Privacy

TrueCompass does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
